Spiral Classifier
The spiral classifier separates fine and coarse particles by settling velocity in water. It is placed after a grinding mill to split the slurry into overflow fines and sand underflow.
Technical parameters
The sand returns to the mill for regrinding, closing the circuit. This arrangement ensures a controlled cut size and protects downstream equipment from oversize material. The overflow advances to subsequent processing stages.
The parameter table lists two types: high-weir and submerged. High-weir models suit coarse classification duties at lower pool depths. Submerged versions operate with the spiral fully below the pulp level, yielding finer overflow cuts. Choose a model by matching the required overflow and return sand tonnages and settling area to your expected feed characteristics.

Standard-model catalogue figures. Actual capacity, power draw and wear life shift with ore properties, feed gradation and circuit conditions. Use them to shortlist, then confirm the duty by testwork, flowsheet calculation and a written confirmation from the manufacturer.
What decides the selection
Before fixing a spiral classifier model, define the target cut size, the slurry feed rate and density from the mill, and the desired split between overflow and sand. Wear protection requirements, available footprint, and whether the installation permits a slope-adjustable trough also influence the final choice.
