XN Hydrocyclone

The XN hydrocyclone performs wet classification in closed circuit with a grinding mill. It splits the feed into a fine overflow and a coarse underflow for regrinding. This classification step determines the mill's effective cut point and influences overall circuit capacity.

Technical parameters

Hydrocyclones sit on the mill discharge line. The overflow goes to subsequent treatment; the underflow returns to the mill. Getting the cyclone size and pressure right prevents energy waste and maintains the desired grind size.

The model table spans three nominal sizes. For a given inlet pressure, processing capacity rises with cyclone diameter, while classification size adjusts through vortex finder and apex selection. The table lists the main dimensional options; final tuning depends on site-specific slurry conditions and target cut point.

What decides the selection

Before fixing a model, pin down the required throughput, target grind size, feed solids concentration, and available pump pressure. These values determine the diameter, operating pressure, and the inlet/overflow/underflow openings that will yield stable classification without roping or surging.
